Checking the Status of Health Insurance of Expatriates

In order to check for updates with your insurance you can click on this link and fill in the required fields on it. http://www.cchi.gov.sa/en/Employers/InsuranceInfo/Pages/default.aspx

If you do not have IQAMA number yet, you can enter the border number, which is the 10-digit number which was written by the immigration officer by hand in arabic at the first entry on the expatriate.

How to Apply for the First IQAMA of Dependents in Saudi Arabia

Here are the step by step procedure for applying for the first IQAMA of Dependents in Saudi Arabia:
  1. Go to any of the approved clinic or lab which issue a medical certificate. The clinic will automatically update it in MOI system.
  2. Get a health insurance by asking your company (kafeel) to apply for medical insurance for the family members in accordance to the border number. The insurance amount depends upon the coverage or the kind of insurance being applied for.  (To some who wants to save money, they can apply on their own, but they need to get a copy of the Company Registration Certificate of their Kafeel which they will give to accredited insurance company nearby.)
  3. Check the status of the insurance. Click here on how to check for the status of the health insurance by entering the border number of your family members.

If everything is okay, meaning, you were issued with a medical certificate and health insurance is updated, you are now ready to prepare the documents before you go to the JAWAZAT/Passport Office to get the IQAMA of your dependent.

  1. Have a copy of IQAMA Form for the Passport Office (SAUDI JAWAZAT). Because it is in arabic, you need to ask for a help from any employee of your Kafeel who knows Arabic.
  2. Attach two pictures and have the forms attested by your Kafeel. Stamp on the one of the pictures is needed also. Passport copies of you and your family members are to be attached also. The copy of your IQAMA should also be attached.
  3. Go to the JAWAZAT Office near you and present all your documents.
  4. Once the IQAMA is issued, check for errors like on the name, religion etc. If there is any error, submit it again together with the old IQAMA. At this time, you do not need to pay any fee for the IQAMA of your dependents.
